Sōu Minayoshi (1902-1983) was a Japanese haiku poet from Fukui Prefecture, originally named Daitaro. He was educated in Fukui and began his career in 1919 at Sumitomo Electric Industries. He studied under Kyoshi Takahama, participated in the founding of the 'Satsuki' magazine in 1922, and became the magazine's judge in 1936. In 1946, he launched his own magazine, 'Yukige'. Minayoshi received the first Nakahara Teijiro Prize in 1967 and was honored with the Order of the Rising Sun in 1979. His grandson is also a notable haiku poet and painter.
