In 1951, he was elected Metropolitan of Rhodes, where he served until his death. Known for his intelligence, education, and eloquence, he significantly contributed to the restoration of churches and social welfare. His funeral was attended by thousands, reflecting his profound impact and long tenure as a respected bishop. He declined the position of Patriarch of Alexandria in favor of serving in Rhodes.
