Stanislav Grof, born on July 1, 1931, is a Czech psychiatrist who has been living in the United States since the 1960s. He is a key developer of transpersonal psychology and research into the use of altered states of consciousness for exploration, healing, and personal growth. Grof received the VISION 97 award from the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation in Prague on October 5, 2007. However, he has faced criticism for promoting non-scientific psychology in the Czech Republic. He is the only individual to have received the Erratic Boulder award twice there.
