Stanko Dovečar is a Slovenian textile technologist and businessman born on April 11, 1936, in Podgorci. He graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology in Ljubljana and earned his master's degree in 1981 from the Faculty of Technology in Zagreb. He worked at the Maribor textile factory Svila from 1959, becoming its director from 1983 to 1992. Under his leadership, the company prospered in both the Yugoslav and foreign markets. Additionally, he taught weaving technology and textile mechanical processes at the University of Maribor from 1983 to 1996.
