Stanko Nižić was a Croatian emigrant worker, journalist, and victim of UDBA. Born on February 24, 1951, in Crveni Grm, near Ljubuški, he worked in Switzerland, contributing to the Croatian Worker newspaper, the voice of the Croatian Workers' Union of Europe. He authored promotional materials about Croatia’s status within Yugoslavia and edited the magazine Hrvatska revolucija. Nižić was politically independent and was assassinated by an UDBA collaborator on August 24, 1981, in Zurich, where he was later buried. Switzerland renewed the investigation into his murder in 2008.
