Stanley Dwight Beck was an American entomologist known for his work in insect physiology and host plant resistance. After serving in the navy during World War II, he became a university researcher and continued his research despite being paralyzed by polio in 1952. He made significant contributions to the study of insect photoperiodism and authored two major books on the topic. Beck also developed artificial diets for lepidopteran larvae, aiding research on pest species. Later in life, he published a novel titled 'Two in the Game' after his retirement.
