He served in the Kentucky State Senate representing District 1 from 2012 until 2021 after succeeding Kenneth W. Winters. Previously, he was elected Judge-Executive of Trigg County in 2006. Humphries holds a bachelor's degree in education from Murray State University and resides in Cadiz, Kentucky, with his wife Kim and their three children.
