Stanley Robert 'Stan' West was a British high jumper born on February 8, 1913, in Westminster, London. He competed for England at the 1934 British Empire Games in London, finishing in sixth place. West also participated in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where he did not advance past the qualifying rounds. In 1935, he achieved notable success by becoming the English Indoor Champion and setting a personal best jump of 1.90 meters, which also earned him the title of English Champion.
