Stefán Aðalsteinsson was an Icelandic writer and a Doctor of Animal Biology born on December 30, 1928. He studied agricultural sciences at the University of Agriculture and completed his studies before pursuing a doctorate at the University of Edinburgh. His dissertation on sheep heredity earned him a PhD in 1969. From 1991 to 1996, he served as the director of the Nordic Livestock Bank and was honored as a Knight of the Order of the Falcon in 2003 for his contributions to science and agricultural genetics.
