Stefan Auber (1903 - 1986) was a cellist from Vienna, Austria. He received early music instruction from his father, a cellist, and later studied under Julius Klengel at the Leipzig Conservatory. Auber immigrated to the United States in 1939, where he spent three years as the cellist for the Corisch String Quartet. In 1941, he became the principal cellist for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, a position he held until his passing in 1986 in New York.
