Stefan Karner is an Austrian historian born on December 18, 1952, in Sankt Jakob bei Griffen. He served as the head of the Institute for Economic, Social and Business History at the University of Graz until his retirement in February 2018. Additionally, he is the founder and director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for War Consequences Research and has led a media training program at the University of Graz. His contributions to historical research, especially regarding economic and social history, are notable.
