Stein Kaasa is an award-winning Norwegian cancer researcher, known for his work in palliative care and pain relief. He received his medical degree in 1980 and became a specialist in oncology in 1989, working at Radiumhospitalet. In 1993, he became Norway's first professor of palliative medicine at what is now the Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology at NTNU. He led the European Palliative Care Research Centre at St. Olavs Hospital and became the chief of the Clinic for Cancer and Skin Diseases there in 2010.
