Steinbjørn Berghamar Jacobsen (1937-2012) was a Faroese author, poet, and teacher known primarily for his children's books, as well as novels, short stories, and plays. He was born in Sandvík, the northernmost village on Suðuroy, and became headmaster of Føroya Fólkaháskúli from 1970 to 1980. Jacobsen received the Faroe Islands' literary prize in 1981. After his death, his children released a CD of music composed by his son for ten of his poems. Jacobsen passed away from cancer at the age of 74 in Tórshavn.
