He was known for initiating and promoting innovative techniques in thoracic surgery. Dr. Ivașcu was a full member of the Romanian Society of Medical Sciences and served as the director of the T.B.C Balotești Hospital from 1964 to 1978. Additionally, he was the director of the Bucharest Sanitary Directorate for 12 years.
