Wilhelm Einar Stellan Hjertén is a Swedish biochemist and emeritus professor born on April 2, 1928. He obtained his PhD in 1967 from Uppsala University with a dissertation focused on electrophoresis. In 1969, he became a professor of biochemistry at the same institution. Hjertén was elected to the Uppsala Society of Sciences in 1971 and received the Björkénska prize in 1985, recognizing his contributions to the field of biochemistry.
