He was consecrated bishop on May 19, 1991, in Norrköping by the presiding bishop Eric S. Taylor from England, with assistance from bishops Lennart Söderström and Aumo Artamaa. Before becoming regional bishop, he served as an assistant bishop for the church. He is married to Eva Jakobson.
