He founded Marcegaglia SpA in 1959, transforming it into one of the leading companies in the stainless steel sector. He received an honorary degree in materials engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2002 and was honored with the Order of Merit for Labour on June 2, 1992. He passed away in Milan on September 10, 2013.
