Stephanie Byers is an American politician and educator, born on February 5, 1963. She serves in the Kansas House of Representatives representing the 86th district and made history with her election in 2020 as the first openly transgender person in the Kansas Legislature. Additionally, she is recognized as the first transgender Native American elected to office in the United States, hailing from the Chickasaw Nation. Despite her groundbreaking achievements, she chose not to run for reelection.
