Stephen George Barchet was an American football player and a rear admiral in the United States Navy, born on April 4, 1901, in St. Margaret's, Maryland. He played as a halfback for the Navy Midshipmen and was a third-team All-American in 1921 and 1922. After graduating from the Naval Academy, he served for 30 years, commanding the USS Argonaut during the Pearl Harbor attack and receiving the Legion of Merit in 1945. He retired in 1954 and later worked in the private sector until his death in 1964.
