Stephen John Keynes (1927-2017) was a great-grandson of Charles Darwin and chairman of the Charles Darwin Trust. Educated at The Hall School, Hampstead, Oundle School, and King's College, Cambridge, he was an Open Scholar. A son of Geoffrey Keynes and Margaret Darwin, he had notable familial relations, including economist John Maynard Keynes. He married Mary Cecilia Knatchbull-Hugessen in 1955 and had five children: Gregory, Elizabeth, Toby, Martha, and Zachary. He was also a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London and a member of the Roxburghe Club.
