Stephen Vizinczey, born Istvan Vizinczey, was a Canadian novelist of Hungarian origin. He wrote several novels, noted for their literary quality, and also worked as an essayist. His most famous work is 'In Praise of Older Women.' Born on May 12, 1933, in Kaloz, Hungary, he experienced the traumatic loss of his father at the hands of the Nazis at age two, and later participated in the Budapest uprising of 1956 before fleeing to Canada.
