Stephen Earle Buyer is a former U.S. Congressman who represented Indiana's 4th and 5th congressional districts from 1993 to 2011. A member of the Republican Party, he served as a legal advisor during the Gulf War and achieved the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. In 2010, he announced he would not seek a tenth term to care for his wife, who suffers from a serious autoimmune disease. After leaving office, Buyer became a lobbyist for McKesson and began promoting smokeless tobacco in 2012.
