Steve Ferrone, born on April 25, 1950, in Brighton, England, is a renowned British drummer best known for his association with the Average White Band. Influenced by Motown soul music of the 1960s, he joined the band in 1974 following the death of Robbie McIntosh. After the band's split in 1982, he worked as a live musician for various artists including Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, and Duran Duran. In 1989, he rejoined the Average White Band and has contributed as a session musician, notably on Duran Duran's 1986 album Notorious.
