Steven Frank LaSpina, born on March 24, 1954, in Wichita Falls, Texas, is an American jazz bassist. He grew up in Chicago before moving to New York City in 1979, where he collaborated with notable musicians like Benny Carter, Stan Getz, and Joe Williams. In the 1980s, he played with the trios of Claude Bolling and Marian McPartland, and toured with guitarist Jim Hall in the 1990s. LaSpina has released several albums under his own name and has taught at various educational institutions, including William Paterson University since 1999.
