Stephen Edward Shafer, born on December 8, 1940, is a former American gridiron football player and coach. He played for the BC Lions, achieving victory in the Grey Cup in 1964. A graduate of Utah State University, he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1963. As a coach, he worked in the NFL from 1983 to 2003, contributing to various teams including the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He currently resides in Lincoln, California.
