Steve Vibert Pouchie was a talented Bronx Latin Jazz vibraphonist born on January 18, 1954. After graduating from Bard College in 1976, he taught at Walton High School until 2004. He received the Liberty Medal from NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg for his contributions to music education. Pouchie formed a Latin Jazz ensemble, opening for notable artists like Tito Puente. He produced the TV show 'Latin Jazz Alive and Kickin', and released CDs including 'Vibe Mania' and 'North by Northwest'. Pouchie passed away on August 28, 2015, shortly after his last performance.
