Steven Andrew Balbus is an American-born astrophysicist and currently serves as the Savilian Professor of Astronomy at the University of Oxford. He is also a Fellow Professor at New College, Oxford. Balbus was awarded the Shaw Prize in Astronomy in 2013, sharing this prestigious accolade with John Hawley for their contributions to the field of astrophysics.
