He planted a bomb in a family car that exploded, killing both Margaret and Scott instantly. Benson was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was moved between different prisons due to threats and abuse. He died in prison after being stabbed in the head with a homemade weapon.
