Steven Charleston is a former American bishop of the Episcopal Church and an academic, born on February 15, 1949. He is a Native American of the Choctaw tribe. He served as the bishop of the Diocese of Alaska from 1991 to 1996 and was the dean of the Episcopal Divinity School from 1999 to 2008. Additionally, he worked as a professor of systematic theology at Luther Seminary and Berkeley Divinity School at Yale University.
