Steven Lungu, also known as Captain Solo, was a Zambian army officer born on January 6, 1962, in Mansa, Zambia. He is known for his involvement in a coup attempt in 1997 alongside Captain Jack Chiti against President Dr. Frederick Chiluba. Lungu led soldiers in an attack on an arms depot and seized the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation studios, claiming to represent a fictitious National Redemption Council. He declared that he had taken over the country and set an ultimatum for President Chiluba.
