Steven Sasson is an American electrical engineer and inventor born on July 4, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for inventing the first digital camera while working at Kodak as an electronics engineer. In 1975, he created a prototype with a resolution of 0.01 megapixels and received a patent for this invention in 1978. For his contributions to the field, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Rochester on October 1, 2009.
