He studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts from 1947 to 1952, and began illustrating Swedish literature. Claesson published over 80 books from 1956, often blending travel with fiction. Notable works include 'Walking in the Sun,' adapted into a film, and 'Who Loves Ongehve Frig,' translated into 10 languages. He received numerous awards, including a literary prize from Svenska Dagbladet and an honorary doctorate from Uppsala University in 1974. He passed away on January 4, 2008, in Stockholm.
