Sir Stuart James Etherington is a British charity executive, born on 26 February 1955. He served as the chief executive of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations from 1994 to 2020, significantly growing its membership. Previously, he was the chief executive of the Royal National Institute for Deaf People. In recognition of his contributions to the voluntary sector, he was knighted in 2010. Etherington currently holds several leadership roles, including Chair of the Oversight Trust and the National Centre for Social Research, and is recognized for his contributions to charity effectiveness.
