Subhash Mukhopadhyay was an Indian physician recognized as the creator of India's first and the world's second test-tube baby, named Durga. He faced significant obstacles from the West Bengal government in publicizing his research, which ultimately led to his despair. He completed his MBBS in 1955 and earned a Ph.D. in reproductive physiology in 1958. His groundbreaking achievement of delivering the first test-tube baby in India occurred on October 3, 1978, but he was later denied recognition, leading to his tragic suicide on June 19, 1981.
