Subramanian Anantha Ramakrishna, born on November 30, 1972, is a prominent professor of physics at IIT Kanpur, with expertise in optics and condensed matter physics. He received the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 2016 for his contributions to physical sciences. Ramakrishna earned his M.Sc. degree from IIT Kanpur in 1995 and completed his Ph.D. at Raman Research Institute in 2001. Following his postdoctoral work at Imperial College London, he joined IIT Kanpur in 2003 and later served as Director of the CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation from July 2020 to October 2023.
