Sucheta Kadethankar is an Indian woman from Pune who crossed the Gobi Desert, Asia's largest desert, covering a distance of 1,000 miles (1,600 km) on July 15, 2011. She became the first Indian woman to achieve this remarkable feat. Sucheta was part of a 13-member team from nine countries, led by desert explorer Ripley Davenport, during the 2011 Gobi Desert expedition, which utilized four-wheel drive trucks, local Mongolian guides, and 12 Bactrian camels.
