Suekichi Ōkubo was a Japanese jockey and trainer born on January 16, 1908, and passed away on June 11, 1981. He debuted as a jockey in 1929 and became a trainer for the Japan Racing Association in 1955, winning the Emperor's Prize (Spring) in 1970 with the horse Mejiro Musashi. He handled several horses owned by Tokiyoshi Kitano, known as the 'Mejiro Army,' and became the leading trainer in national wins in 1973. His son, Yōkichi Ōkubo, also served as a trainer, making the Ōkubo family notable in horse racing.
