Sufian Ahmad Beker is an Ethiopian politician born on March 5, 1956, in Adoua. He served as Minister of Finance from 1995 to 2001 and then as Minister of Finance and Economic Development until 2016. He grew up near Asela in the Oromia province and converted to Christianity in 1958 when he enrolled in an English missionary school. Ahmad is a member of the ODPO political party and was a candidate for the presidency of the African Development Bank in 2015.
