He was accused of violence against nine transgender individuals and faced legal action under article 245 of the Turkish Penal Code, which could have led to a prison sentence ranging from 2 years and 3 months to 27 years. However, he avoided punishment due to a general amnesty in 2003. Ulusoy also attempted to run for the mayoralty of Horasan and sought candidacy from various political parties.
