Sumio Hosaka is a Japanese engineer born on October 16, 1948. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Yamanashi University in 1971 and joined Hitachi, Ltd. He earned his Doctor of Engineering degree in 1983. He has worked at Hitachi's Central Research Laboratory and Fundamental Research Laboratory. Since 2001, he has been a professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Gunma University, and from April 2003, he has also been a professor at the Graduate School of Engineering at Gunma University.
