She was the granddaughter of Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China, and the second daughter of Sun Ke. Sun Sui-hwa graduated from Smith College and spent many years living in the United States. Her heritage and family ties connect her to significant historical figures in Chinese history, particularly her grandfather's contributions to the country's revolutionary movements.
