Sun Wenbo, born in 1956 in Chengdu, Sichuan, is a prominent modern Chinese poet and one of the Five Gentlemen of Bashu. He has participated in numerous international poetry festivals including the Rotterdam International Poetry Festival, the Berlin Chinese Poetry Festival, and the Pearl River International Poetry Festival in Guangzhou. Sun has co-founded and edited several poetry periodicals and received multiple poetry awards for his contributions to contemporary Chinese poetry.
