He has served as a member of the DPR-RI for two terms, from 2014 to 2019 and from 2019 to 2024, representing the East Java VII electoral district which includes Magetan, Ngawi, Pacitan, Ponorogo, and Trenggalek. A member of the Great Indonesia Movement Party, previously affiliated with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, he is known for his role in Commission II and as the father of Dylan Sahara, who tragically passed away during the Sunda Strait tsunami in 2018.
