Admiral Sureesh Mehta, PVSM, AVSM, born on August 18, 1947, served as the 19th Chief of the Indian Navy from October 31, 2006, until August 31, 2009. He was the first service chief of India’s armed forces born after Indian Independence. After his tenure, he was succeeded by Nirmal Kumar Verma. Sureesh Mehta is married to Maria Teresa Mehta, and they have two children.
