Surekha Yadav, born on September 2, 1965, is an Indian train driver and the first female loco pilot in India. She made history in 1988 as the country's pioneering woman railway driver. In April 2000, she operated the first 'Ladies Special' local train introduced by then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee. From 2000 to 2010, she served as a suburban local train motor woman and was promoted to senior loco pilot in 2010. Notably, on International Women's Day in 2011, she became Asia's first female train driver to run the Deccan Queen from Pune to Mumbai.
