Surisman Marah is an Indonesian photographer born on May 3, 1951. He is known as a pioneer of blind photography techniques in Indonesia. Frustrated with conventional methods, he experimented by involving visually impaired individuals in photography, enabling them to capture images typically reserved for sighted people. Surisman began his photography career in 1972 and was the first in Indonesia to adopt blind photography techniques, inspired by international photographers like Anja Ligtenberg, who also explored this approach through her project 'Seeing The Unseen'.
