Surjit Singh Dhillon (May 6, 1932 - January 24, 2020) was a Punjabi literary figure, author, and the founder of the Department of Life Sciences at Punjabi University Patiala. He published 106 research papers, two monographs on organisms, nine scientific books, and several significant articles. Notably awarded the Punjab Ratna Award in 1999 and the Shromani Lekhak Award in 2001, Dhillon adeptly incorporated both Punjabi and Urdu literary styles in his writings and made a remarkable amalgamation of science and literature.
