Susan Denise Atkins (May 7, 1948 - September 24, 2009) was an American convicted murderer and a prominent member of the Manson Family, led by Charles Manson. On August 9, 1969, she participated in the murder of actress Sharon Tate and four others in Los Angeles. The following night, she was involved in the murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. Known as 'Sadie Mae Glutz' or 'Sexy Sadie', Atkins was sentenced to death on March 29, 1971, but her sentence was commuted to life imprisonment following the California Supreme Court's ruling against the death penalty in 1972.
