Susan D. Gubar is an American author and distinguished Professor Emerita of English and Women's Studies at Indiana University. She is renowned for co-authoring the influential feminist literary study 'The Madwoman in the Attic: The Woman Writer and the Nineteenth-Century Literary Imagination' in 1979 alongside Sandra Gilbert. Gubar has also produced a trilogy focusing on women's writing in the 20th century and has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Ivan Sandrof Lifetime Achievement Award.
