Susan Neiman is an American philosopher born on March 27, 1955, in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been the director of the Einstein Forum in Potsdam since 2000. Her philosophical work focuses on how people deal with the dissonance between their lived reality and their hopes and ideals of justice. Politically active from a young age, she opposed the Vietnam War and more recently has protested against the Iraq War and supported Barack Obama's campaign. Neiman advocates for moral clarity in left-liberal thought to resist conservative interpretations of traditional moral concepts.
